Ely Police Station Open Day

On Sunday 7th September Ely Police Station held its annual open day and Steve went along to support the event and represent the Bobby Scheme, on arrival as the event was out in the open it was decided to have the Bobby Scheme van in the yard as a backdrop to our stall so the public could relate the display to the van, the weather was just perfect for an open air event, when the gates opened at noon the people just flooded in nearly 900 through the gate by the 16.00hrs finish.
As well as ourselves the other organisations that were present included the Police at Ely, Police support unit, Several police vehicle’s, Search and rescue, Neighbourhood watch, Littleport time bank, East Anglian Ambulance, N H S, Speed watch, and other support groups.
The vast majority of visitor’s were young parents with children but still stopped for a chat to learn about our scheme and take a leaflet to show they aging parents, grandparents, or friends and neighbours.
I think a good day was had by all, and I can’t go without congratulating all the staff at Ely especially Sue Loaker who organised the event and made the day run smoothly.
