Last week Steve joined an intergenerational social action project that involved the volunteer police cadets established by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. This project was held at Soham Village College on January 18th.
The project’s aim was to encourage young people to work with local groups and organisations to make a positive, practical contribution to elderly and vulnerable groups in their communities.
Steve, along with other local groups, set up a display stand of security devices we fit and explained to the cadets the service we provide and what practical help and support would be useful to us. The Cadets then went away and presented back their ideas and proposals for social action projects and volunteering opportunities with our charity.
We do hope that this is the start of a rewarding partnership with the cadets and they are able to raise awareness of the work we do while working out in the community. This is an exciting project which we hope will bring respect and greater understanding between the generations.
