July Monthly Update

We had 102 referrals this month. Steve and Jeff have visited and secured the homes of 92 older residents, of these 49 were victims of crime. They also visited and secured the homes of 39 victims of domestic abuse.

Jeff gave talks to Woodwalton WI, Earith Day Centre and two sheltered housing groups – one at Orton Goldhay in Peterborough and the other in Wisbech.

We held our bi-monthly team meeting and invited Mary Wilson, Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator for Sawston. Mary is one of the most energetic, active, enthusiastic co-ordinators in the county. As well as this, she also makes jams and chutneys and sells them at local events. As a supporter of the Bobby Scheme, Mary kindly gave us the profit from these sales – a massive £2,000. We were so grateful to receive this amount of money to help us continue our work!

Michael, a trainee police officer from the Constabulary went out with Steve for two days as part of his community placement. He also came into our office to gain a better understanding of what we do.

I attended a session to understand about the new workplace pension’s legislation organised by Whiting & Partners. Every employer has a specific staging date and by 1st October 2017, auto-enrolment will be compulsory for all employers, including our charity, even though we only have four staff.
